Looking at a Radix
#1
Hey guys I have few questions about the radix on these trucks.
First based on the mods in my sig would this truck be a good candidate for the radix? I have a little different set up than most of you have and thats why I'm asking after searching for a while. I've always loved the sound of a turbo but I think the lack of any kind of lag from the radix would work best with my truck. Would you agree or am I exaggerating about the common turbo lag?
How loud are they inside the cab. I've never ridden inside a chevy with a radix. But I have ridden a Lightning with some work done to it and it was deafening loud in the cab at WOT. There was no way that I could have even talked on the phone with that blower scream. I like the sound of a blower but not that much. And I'm not sure what the lightning all had done but he does have a dyno sheet that shows 500 hp. What it takes to get it there I have no idea.
I was looking into doing a 408 but I'd rather not have my truck down for a couple of weeks to do the swap. Especially since the winter snow is going to hit soon enough. Any help would be great!
*Edit I guess I need to learn how to spell "Loking"

My magnacharged silverado is great. Everyone who gets in my truck always has something to say...like.." Man this thing sounds bad" Or " This thing sounds like a jet". Definitly not to loud though.. Just my 2cents.

yes, your truck would be a great candidate for a radix! even better than most because you have to turn those big tires and you now have a 80e slowing you down too.
from what ive heard of them they arent deafenign loud, not as loud as a lightning, if you keep your stock airbox, it wont be nearly as loud. search the multimedia section, there are some incab vids in there to listen to.
what kinda power are you looking to make or just a fun DD.

Thats good to hear about the in cab noise. I couldn't believe how loud that lightning was.
In all honesty I'm not sure. Its deffiently going to be a fun DD but I'm also looking for the extra power to get me through the mud hole. I can't really give an idea on rwhp #'s since my numbers are going to WAY different then someone with stock sized tires will have. These tires really soak up the power. It feels like a whole new truck when I throw on the 35" all terrains for the winter.
I guess I would like to see somewhere around the equivalent of 450 rwhp on a stock tired truck. What would I need to get there? How far can I push the radix before I'm going to need meth? I would rather stay away from that but I am open to it if need be.

Any race fuel supplier will have it, I buy in 5 gal cans. I run it all the time but don't use that much. A 1/4 mile pass uses about a cup? 5 gallons lasts me a few months.
You don't need it for 5-7lbs boost really, I wouldn't worry about it at this time.

I don’t' think you will be bothered with in cab noise, they are not that loud. Plus they are even quieter when the bypass valve is open. How often do you go WOT while on the phone? lol Most people are very happy with 450 ish rwhp. Which with the radix kit you wont have a problem hitting. What engine do you have now???

i have a similar set up as you do 6" lift w/35" tires and the RADIX is KILLER!! Complete night and day difference with it than with out it. It will definitely help turn your 36's especially since you have the fatty ~16" wide tires. I also tow a 4500lbs boat with ease, up hills and in OD.
Do you have a 1500 or 2500? Radix, 36" tires, 4.88 gears, and a 10 bolt?? You'll be blowing your rear ends like bad Mexican Food
