Yeah, the guy told me that the high temp equipment was very expensive. I wonder what typical EGT's are for one of our motors? Maybe I don't need the 2000* coating.

I have a 1600 coating on mine, (done locally) and it has held up fair at best. Not sure if you need the 2000 coating but it might be nice to have if it is more durable. My exhaust temps are typically 1000-1300, thats on the down pipe about 6 inches from the turbo. Hope this helps.

DId a search on tech and found another company called Swaintech. They do a full ceramic .015" thick coating, and they are cheaper than HPC. They guy there said their coating is designed to take the place of something like header wrap. Anyone know anything about Swaintech?

I'd find out what company they send thier stuff out to and go with them to avoid the mark up. I would also look into what type of prep each company does prior to coating. That will give you a good indication on how long it will last. With our coils here at work, different vendors use different prep processes, and it shows within the first year of use. It'll start peeling like an albino kid with a sunburn.

LOL....Swaintech does their own coating. They are another company like HPC or Jet-Hot.

Yeah but weren't you saying that HPC or Jet Hot has to send thier stuff out to someone else for the high temp work? Or are they sending it to Swaintech?

No they both have different facilities around the country. Only some are capable of doing the extreme temp coatings.

have heard good things about Swaintech too... couple of top mount C5 Corvette guys I know used them... and their hoods are VERY close to the turbo's. Nick Yoskin, who hangs out at CorvetteForum C5 Forced Induction did the Swaintech, HPC high temp black, and then wrapped his headers! Wrapping after coating will provide additional heat protection. Coating is great as a barrier protection when wrapping... the metal will never come in contact with the wrap... which can soak up moisture and keep it in contact with the header until it evaporates during warm up...

Chris, I can't wait for your project to come together... really want to hook up when you start dropping things back into the engine bay. If you need an extra hand don't hesitate to call

I gotta nod to Swain!! Of the times I have seen a JetHot coated header. It was less than impressive.
