Yes it was, but the truck didn't sound much different (at least from inside the truck) at normal driving. When I hit 7lbs of boost and the gate open, it got much louder with a hissing sound. Kind of sounds like a big air leak.

FWIW, I have the new style tail pipe. My WG vents to the atmosphere and I have a little turn down on it. It does provide a hissing sound kinda and a bigger woosh. Nothing wierd or overbearing. Plus because it turns down, you should see it blow up all the dirt off the road when I get on it.

Cool, so if I get the replacement new style pipe from STS I can blow leaves next fall with it!!
Seriously though, if its venting to atmoshere you don't get the commpressor surge WHUB_WHUB_WHUB_WHUB sound?? If thats true I'll mod the damm thing myself just to get rid of that!
I gotta call STS on Monday. No more surge and no more wastegate freezing up sound good to me.

No no no, I still get the surge when I let off abruptly. You know the angry turkey noise that scares the elderly and small children. Only a BOV will get rid of that. It just makes a louder woosh when I floor it. Probably due to all the exhuast gas flowing through the pipe and venting to the atmos.

Great I still need a BOV and now a new STS pipe too!
The **** never ends man, I'm starting to wonder about the worth of a boosted system in my climate area.
