I run water/meth, and don't notice an IAT difference at all. I think it has to do with hitting the rotors. The rotors become so hot that it doesn't help. I use it for an octane booster though. I am working at a new setup that will have 8 injectors over each port of the lower manifold. I would think that will really help with the temps. Plus I am making a huge intercooler. It should have interesting results.

Well I changed my mind. I was going to have to change the exhaust, and a lot more messing around than I thought. Plus I think my truck is worth more with the supercharger since they came optionally from the dealership. I would love to have the power of a turbo, but the supercharger was always fun except for the IAT's. I feel bad I never finished that project, I had so much of it done. I really don't have much left to do.

Not that it will make a ton of difference, but what is your intercooler mix? I use maybe two cups of antifreeze, one bottle of Water Wetter, and fill the rest with distilled water. I also replaced the stock 5/8" ID hoses with 3/4" hoses, cost about $1.50 per foot, and eliminated the T-fitting air bleeder as it has an ID of maybe 3/8" and looked to be a serious bottle neck. I also wrapped the hose going from the H/E to the S/C with foam insulation from home depot, about $8 (don't know if it makes any difference, but thought it would keep the underhood from heating the return hose).

I usually see about 115* IAT's cruising around town in stop and go, in about 80* weather IIRC.

 

Well..... My coolant pump just stopped pumping and now my iats are about 129-135? Am i missing something here. HOW is that possible

50/50 is way overkill, water cools much better than antifreeze. Unless you are concerned with the water freezing, you can run 100% distilled water during the spring, summer and fall (that's what I do, then add some antifreeze when it starts nearing freezing temps). I bet you will notice an IAT drop going from 50/50 to 80/20, or even all distilled water.

 

I thought I heard somewhere that in a wet intercooled system the additives like water wetter don't help at all. I honestly haven't done any testing or research about it. I think I read somewhere that water wetter will work in an engine coolant system. The difference was that the heat off of a cylinder wall would let normal water or antifreeze bubble off of the wall sort of like bubbles off of the bottom of a pan of boiling water. Water wetter will reduce or eliminate those bubbles making more contact for the coolant to absorb more heat. Like I said I have not done any testing, and I don't even know if that is true. It would be a neat little experiment though. Maybe if I can find time...
