Question i/c efficiency

I run meth injection with my setup but thought about installing an i/c as well so I can pump up the boost a tad more. I've been trying to figure out if an i/c will hurt or help me. How do you know what i/c's have the best efficiency and which are rip offs? Would the the 3x12x24 $199 i/c's on ebay be too much of a power loss?

Cool

I am not sure of the efficiency of that IC but I think it is the one lots of the guys are running. Do a search in here or under the GM section and I think you will get some more info.

with mine i bought from trturbo(billy) i lost about 1 to 1 1/2 psi but the iat's were a hell of a lot lower . you can run more boost and still enjoy more timing , power and lower temps.i never saw over 125 deg thru the ic.

You will only see a boost drop if you're supercharged because the blower speed is controlled by pulley speed. If you're turbo'd and controlling boost with the wastegate you won't see any difference on the gauge as long as the turbo is capable of making enough boost to begin with. The turbo may spool higher to produce the same boost number but the REAL difference is that it'll actually be putting MORE air thru the engine - which WILL make more power.

I'm running one of these intercoolers on my 4.8 and it works great. Like duner says, you won't loose any boost, as long as you move your wastgate pressure control hose from the compressor housing up to the intake after the intercooler. Like Bud8fan, I have never seen intake temps higher then 125*

I should figure out if I want to hunt down a Cummins i/c or grab a $199 job off ebay. Decisions decisions. I have a Garett T60 on my truck and only running 8psi so it'll be fine to up the boost another # or 2 due to the i/c and still be in an efficient range for the turbo.
