Mine is at 14 degrees at 15lbs with straight meth and 91octane, 10.9 AFR. The IATS on my runs stay below 100 and I was wondering how high I could go on timing and still be OK or if it would be better to turn up the boost a few pounds and keep the timing. Which would net more power vs being safe? Would it help to get AFR in 11.3-11.5 range or keep it as is?

No meth on the street. 2.8" Pulley

At 19* I run a 12.6 1320
At 21* I run a 12.4 1320
At 23* I run a 12.2 1320
At 25* I run a 12.1 1320

I of course respect the many variables that play into things and that I won't always get away with those numbers. But, 110 octane and meth only, those are pretty typical numbers for me. I do this at the track alot too. I almost never start off at high timing because I can never be sure of my 110 to 93 mix.

Don't take my post wrong, I have seen many guys go no where with increasing timing after certain marks. I run really rich too.

All great questions that can only be answered by your set up specifics. How much meth is in that gas? ratio? By us or me saying 11.3 afr is good may not be rich enough for your setup. Or too rich.

There is a magic crossing area with boost and timing. Raise timing until you find it hitting a wall or getting in to kr and back off about 4*. Then up the boost until you find your meth isn't helping fight off kr. Then back down 3/4's of a lb. Science? Hell no. The real answer is spend some dough on a dyno and figure all that out without the dangers of the track and alot more unknowns.

19 degrees has worked good for me at an 11.2 afr, and with a small amount of 100% meth I don’t have to make any adjustments for the 75hp shot I’m running on 93 pump. Could it do better with more meth and more timing, maybe, but I would rather run a little safer and not be so dependent on the meth in case something ever happens to the pump/electronics or whatever. However, I wouldn’t dare spray it without the methanol the way it is now though. The only casualty I’ve experienced so far; is a couple of years ago I melted down the cat’s that came with my Dynatech headers by running so rich.

19.5 degrees at 9psi no meth
19.5 degrees at 14psi with meth

man all these 11 second ext cabs mostly on street tires and daily drivers ...sure have come a long way from back in the day ....this is a really good thread BTW...I would assume that most of you guys have HP or EFI live and do all the tunning yourselves...as much as i have spent on tunes i certainly could have done that...now my local tunner wants to charge me again like 5 bills once i finish the procharger installation ...friggen redonkulous ...

I can run 22* on 11lbs when cool with 93oct E10. Once IATs get over 140 I start pulling time so I normally see 19-20* on consecutive WOT once heat soak sets in.

Seems everyone runs a lot more timing than I can. Lq9 with 6-7 lbs. My tuner said it made max torque with only 12 deg. If he added more the power never picked up so he left it there. Could never get the knock sensors to stop pulling timing, even with only 3 deg so he ended up turning them off. I tow a lot so it needs to be safe but it seems like I should be able to run more after reading this.
