also put a boost gauge before and after that intercooler. i have seen some have drastically different specs in and out. you might be shwoing 19 psi in front, but maybe only 14 psi our back. Also, how are you tuning? all seat of pants? might need to get ont he dyno to actually see where you are or are not making power.

at 19 psi, if its a true 19psi, you should be making more power

Quickest easiest way to just gain another 100hp Is spray it with a little nitrous. You are already forged bottom end so for around 450 bucks throw a cheap universal wet kit on it.

yes - kinda what I've been thinking in the back of my head. I will check on this. I run my car with a Holley Terminator X and my MAP sensor measures from the intake manifold...so that is where my datalogs are reading from and therefore where my psi readings are from.

I tune 90% at the track. Been on the dyno but dyno had some issues one of the times I was on it. Showed about 600 rwhp the other time. Track has been a much better and more repeatable way to tune for me.

You have a restriction somewhere. That’s pretty low numbers for what your pushing. The engine combo should be fine, I suspect your intercooler or turbine is choking it. Or both. You can measure pre intercooler pressure and also measure exhaust back pressure pre and post turbo and that will tell ya. It’s easy to rig up a temporary gauge to measure them. I actually have mine setup to measure back pressure easy. It’s valuable info about what’s going on.

I really doubt you have maxed out the 3.5" downpipe unless you mean fitting it in your truck. On an NA motor, a single 3.5" would start to be an exhaust restriction at your power level, but a turbo system can handle a small amount of backpressure post turbo without significant drop off's in power that NA motors experience. The 3" downpipes don't show significant restrictions until ~800HP (what I'm told). Plus if you have something like a VSRacing 7875, the turbo has to be a bigger limitation than the 3.5" downpipe, at least I would think so. What do you have after the 3.5" downpipe?

I can tell you from my recent experience with the ebay 31x12x3 intercoolers that they are a huge restriction. On my 86 c30 6.0 with a torqstorm blower I was making 7 psi at 6200 rpm. I switched to a mishimoto universal r line 31x12x4 intercooler and it now makes 10.5 psi at 6200 rpm. Iat is also down about 15* as well.

Hahahahaha. That reminds me of the time I saw a pontoon boat with a big V8 in the river. It would stand almost straight up when he nailed the throttle. It cracked me up to see that, just as would seeing an '84 Mercury Colony Park go fast.

Do you have it made up to look like the Family Vacation station wagon? Hahahaha

After intake, heads, and intercooler upgrade:

Interesting. Yep, that's exactly what I have. the mishimoto looks to be a drop in replacement, I guess I should measure the depth I have to make sure I can fit another inch. should be good.

Now I just need to mock up pressure sensors for intercooler and turbo pre and post and test. should be interesting. I have a WG in the bend just before the turbo flange, does it matter if I put the pressure sensor before or after the WG? Assume It's important to test pre and post turbine rather than just compare downpipe pressure to manifold boost pressure?
