Default Heavy trucks with blowers - converter ?

I really like the way my 80E stock converter works 99.9% of the time but the 0.1% of the time I don't is at the track trying to 60'. My ? is does anyone run a converter that is tight (stock like driving characteristics) but it can flash well at wot? I've only pulled high 1.8's with it flashing about 2900. I've had other converters when I had a 60E and didn't like how they flair under normal driving. Also the trans and power don't feel connected.

Maybe call Yank and speak with them, they should be able to build you a decent converter that drives "close" to stock. My 3400 Power Adder stall flashes to almost 4k, and drives well. definitely not stock but I daily drive it a few weeks of the month.

Agree I love spray for 60' Best of both worlds and don't have to put up with the daily bs of a loose converter. I hated mine with my turbo. It was so freaking lazy unless I nailed it and it was just a 3k.

I have a PI 10.5" triple disk 2800, I really like it. Normal driving its damn near like stock, moderate throttle and you can tell it's a bit looser then stock, and any hard throttle and it pulls hard. Lockup on it is a champ also, esp at wide open.

A Circle D 258 1A would be pretty perfect for you. A 265mm would be even better. I'd be very weary of stock converter under significant power and weight front cover can flex and take out crank. But you've been okay so far.

I am running the circle d 265mm 1A triple disc and love it. Feels almost stock, but if you mash it, you can definitely feel it hit...Sad part is that I haven't got it locking yet. Still need more tuning for my 80e swap. Only locks when commanded through hpt, but otherwise I wouldn't change it for anything.

I'll second what has already been said.

The tightest 258 or 265mm converter you can buy will be an improvement. The 265mm can be made a lot tighter than the 258. Being a procharged truck the 258 will net you better results at the track, but the 265 will be better for street driving.

Kurt, 02orangeD1sc has my old YTank 2800 in his truck and that bad boy did pretty well for him. Flashed to 3400 or so. Granted he is in a lighter truck, but he also had a big cam compared to yours.

Really it just comes down to making a compromise. Do you want a tighter converter to make street driving more enjoyable..........or do you want to drive around those turbo trucks.
