This is exactly what we have found on the many STS installs at our shop. The .81 A/R provides great off idle power with little to no sacrifice in power up top on the 5.3's and stock 6.0's. I personally have a GT67 with a .96 A/R on my 2500 Suburban. I chose this combo because I still use my truck for towing. The .81 A/R will provide boost at part throttle under a load in towing situations. By it's self this can run your IAT's over 180 for a extended period of time. The results should be obvious to all. A FMIC and richer tuning seem to put you back in the safe zone for IAT's.
We have done back to back testing of the .81 vs. the .96 and came up with the same results you have. As I first began to read this post and your complaint I knew exactly what was wrong.

hell yeah! I'm very interested in your driving impressions as well as the hard numbers
