Default Gains from Intercooler + Boost loss to expect..

Hi Guys,

I put a mp90 sidemount on my 5.3, I run the 2.9 or 2.98 pulley, Not sure which one it is. I've heard magnacharger made a 2.98 for these setups.

anyway.. I'm at about 5.5psi with my truck with this pulley, I have magnaflow catback and a ls1 cam. I was considering fabbing an air to water intercooler that I found at frozenboost, ITs the same one you turbo guys use that sits in your old air box, the one that flows in and out on same side, supports 600hp and 700cfm 3'' in/out. I was going to put it where the pcm sits and move that further back, this way the charger would flow almost straight out and hit the intercooler and do a loop and come right back into intake with a small curve at the intake,

(1st) I'm wondering what kind of boost loss I would probably see with this setup, Like I said i'm at about 5.5 right now, I know these are known for very little loss, but I also know having to route it and make some bends can take up boost.

(2nd) I'm wondering what kind of gains an intercooler can give to this setup say I lost 1lb boost, My intake temps are about 110-120* just cruising when its 75* out. After a pull through first they climb to 180-200* If I can get this system to run around 10* above ambient cruising and about 30* over ambient on a pull i'd be knocking off a lot of heat.

Any ideas of what I could expect? I know I can pulley down a little bet yet after intercooling, I may run dual exchangers as well to keep temps down as much as i can.

Thanks for any and all info.

p.s. I am thinking of a meth setup but its hard since this system hits full boost at 2k and I dont want meth engaging at 2k all the time.

You talking about this intercooler...?

I have one for sale

I didn't get any boost drop numbers, but the size of the core and the drop they rate it at tell me its going to be very minimal. Also, running such low boost you might not even be able to measure the drop. Airflow limitations really only show up when you turn the boost and rpm up real high.

Reason I asked about the cooler gains is because I can already run 18* of timing with no knock at about 5.5 psi, my temps get about 100-120* above ambient on the short runs i've done, If I intercool and lower my temps I didn't think I would make gains since I probably wont gain anymore from timing unless that is false? I figured with the cylinder pressure over 18* wont gain even intercooled.

The biggest gain will come from higher air density because of the cooler IAT.
