Default Fire Ring

I found a metal ring in my JGS 50mm WG box and I think it's the "fire ring". Can someone explain how it's installed? From what little info I could find online, I think it goes on the inlet side and gets sandwiched in between the v-bands, and it's supposed to open the gate slightly but it makes a seal against the valve? Is this correct?

Also does anyone know what spring comes in the this wastegate? I think it came with one other spring but there are no labels or directions. I couldn't for the life of me get the snap ring off to check the spring that's in there already

If I had to guess, I think the JGS gates come with a 7lb spring installed, if its new. But I cant promise 100%, just trying to remember what Ive seen in the past with them.

Compress the wg and then take the snap ring off (press the black part toward the oppisite flange).

And yes thats how the fire ring works.

That's how I was trying to get it off. I think I just need better snap ring pliers or I need to modify a pair of needle nose pliers.

How can I tell what size the springs are if they aren't labeled?

The smaller stiffer one is the high boost one, and the larger softer one is the low boost one.

My original problem was not having a vice/ or any device to compress it. I had snap pliers from pulling apart the T-case the summer before! (which still sucks) lol
