Maybe I'm nuts....I'm definitely usually overboard.

New shortblock lets me pick my CI as well. Not really a lot of price difference between 376 and 454. Which perhaps is a better question. With my goals (including being streetable in the winter) what combo would you use for Forced Induction and cubic inches?
In the shortblocks, yes, but don't forget about all the supporting mods. To do it right a 454 will cost much more. More head, more injector, more fuel pump, more turbo/blower, probably break the trans, rear end sooner. I'm not trying to be a killjoy here, I prefer more cubes. Requires much less cam and psi to make the same power. I just want to make sure you've thought of everything, these builds get out of hand quick.

No killjoy there.

By price I meant for the shortblock. Assuming I then turned the boost down so the power was the same wouldn't the net effect also be the same?

Of course, reality sets in...I don't turn down the boost, have more power, and break more stuff. That is probably a given, but I think in that regard this whole project will definitely get out of hand real quick. Sort of my personality.

That discussion is for later.

Now a street tune well into the 12's with potential to kick things up a notch.

Am I correct in thinking the laziness of the turbo will help make the transmission and other rolling gear survive better? Same with the 8-12 no? Oh, and btw in stock form I rarely get more than 12.5.
Yes the turbo would help with the drivetrain and gas mileage too for that matter. Don't get me wrong there is a member here going 11's @ 6k lbs and I guarantee you its a blast to drive on the street...fun factor always there. However if a 1/4 mile track time is what you want or highway rolls, nothing beats a properly setup turbo IMHO. It just doesn't stop pulling.

Just a driver. I won't "race" it. 10-80mph is probably the range that is the most important to me as daily I go through that range the most. Nasty launches are nice sure, so is ripping up top, but on something I lolligag around town in and decide to lead foot it off a roll is the most likely scenario.

Quotes since it'll obviously get lined up and run down the track, but really just for a baseline and to see how it is not as an actual track toy.

For the weight of that thing I would use a whipple for the power adder... Good reliable tq 24/7... Not that a turbo won't do that for you but for your goals a whipple will do just fine. I would put it on a 408 or 427 stroker motor.

Agreed 10-80 and even more a Whipple would hit hard, be fun as hell and reliable! A bit expensive but you get what you pay for.

408, 9.5 cr, put insanely good heads on it, t6 s480.

Should net 1000rwhp to 1200rwhp depending on boost levels. Should light completely around 3750.

Its what ill be using in my ccsb 2500hd.

I vote LQ9 block forged 402 with worked LSA heads, 9.5 compression, and a tvs2300. Solid 750rwhp setup and very DD friendly.

Ive had both, and turbos are not near as fun for a DD and require 10 times the maintenance as a blower. If you want to go turbo later, sell the blower, change the cam, and off you go!
