FI guys running breathers/no pcv. How's your oil look?
#1
I have been planning on running a breather and no pcv for my turbo build. Then I remembered a buddy who had done this and ran into a little water in his oil. Do you guys running breathers have to change the oil like every 500 miles or does it stay pretty clean? I can deal with the smell of breathers, but I dont want to have to a large amount of contaminants in my oil. I've read enough pcv threads to make me sick.

i have an upgraded check valve for my pcv. throttle body is capped and a breather on the passenger valve cover..
i haven't done an oil changed since i've been boosted.. (dec.) i should probably do that soon, maybe this weekend

Yea your oil will get dirty faster but I've never had an issue with water in my oil. I probably go about 4k miles between changes with mobil red cap. Just depends on how hard I've been driving it.

Just run the stock PCV system (with a catch can and check valve inline) and a breather on the passenger side valve cover. Unless you're using the MAF in which case it gets a little more difficult as all ingested air should be passing through the MAF first, otherwise it's a glorified vacuum leak. This is what my tuner told me.
