Default dedicated drag truck, intercooler questions.

I know for general daily driven trucks an intercooler is a must. But how much of an effect would i see by NOT using one in a drag race only truck. Im talking about starting it up hitting the track and shutting it down.

The way i see it is its only going to be effective with air flowing over it. so if it only see's passing air for seconds how much use is it really.

I will be running straight c16 and can keep detonation at bay. Just wanting to here some opinions on this. and if possible see some actual numbers and times.

15 ish PSI. Not sure how well it would work. just curious because intercooler routing will be a pain in my *** in this truck.

Why not run an air to water intercooler with a nice ice box. my setup will only have about 3 ft of tubing and will be seeing very cold intake temps.

The air coming out of a turbo at 15psi is pretty hot. Even with meth, it would be hard to get it down too much. An intercooler acts like a heat sink absorbing as much of the heat in that hot air as it can for the brief time your in boost, then it recovers.

For a drag only setup, I'd look into getting a smaller, more compact air/water core and mounting it where ever you can fit it. Then all you would have to do is put a couple valves on it and drain the water after every run and refill it with ice cold water. Would work well for a drag only truck. Since you'd be changing the water every run, you wouldn't need a heat exchanger, pump or anything.

Ive seen several setups with W/A ICs and a ice box in the trunk of the cars. They made the ice box and fuel cell into one so the ice water would chill the fuel since one wall seperated the fuel and water.
They could make 4 or 5 passes before the ice melted. It was pretty cool lil setup.

One would think you could pick up a decent gain in power with cooling off the air with that much boost.

Yu either need a GOOD intercooler setup or you need to run it on alcohol, methanol not ethanol. Simple as that
