Thanks guys. Ya see, this is the type of advice I'm looking for. Real world stuff from guys in trucks.

I already have the LS6 cam/springs. I'm considering upgrading to comp 918 or PAC-1218. I'm on the fence with porting my 317's. I may do it, just for the experience of it.

Just for grins, I asked Turbonitics what they recommended.

Here's their reply:

I would run a larger turbine wheel. We have a new F1-75 turbine wheel which would be perfect for your application. This turbo retails for $1,568. This would be a T Series turbo with a 76mm compressor wheel.

I bet if you call and talk to a different tech.
You will get a different answer.

I wouldn't spend on more parts if you already have them.
Your set up was to be a fun street set up not all out power.

I'm sure you're right. I wonder though, how hard is it to change the exhaust housing? I mean, that's the biggest problem everyone has with my setup.

I sent an email to Turbonetics earlier. I mentioned in there asking about changing the exhaust housing. He didn't respond to that, instead he suggested an entirely different turbo. LOL

To swap exhaust housing is 6 bolts and a little time.

Just get the housing from the turbo mfg.
tnetics stay tnetics.

If you are on a budget I would recommend you sell that turbo. Then use the funds to get either the s475 or the 80mm eBay turbo. I think generally bigger is going to be better. I think its 100x more frustrating to have a turbo that runs out of power than to have a little lag. I feel like having some lag makes a vehicle more predictable and driveability gets better. Having instant power isn't always the best thing on the street.

Also I think the TU0 speed inc cam or the isky 112 would be the way to go. You can get brian tooley double "gold" springs for less money than the 918/1218 springs with the insurance of a good double spring.

I also think you should go as big as possible on your injectors. If you can afford 80s get them if you can go 100s do it because that way you can buy just once.

Thank for your input. All the parts I've listed, I already own.

That doesn't mean I'm opposed to selling anything. Wouldn't it be cheaper/easier to swap exhaust housings on my T76?

I understand what you're saying about spool times. Remember though, this is a fun street truck, not a peak horsepower, all out drag truck.

Alot easier to just run what you have.
Get the set up running and having fun. Exhaust housing 5 min. and couple hundred bucks.
Since the turbo is new if you sold it you would still loose money on the sale I say keep it.

Cam springs the parts you already have spent funds on.
There are always other choices , and lots of people saying this that and the other.

Looking forward to seeing what the build turns out like.
Give a shout if I can help in any way.

I posted the same question on the tech side as well. Wildly different responses.

A larger A/R turbine housing is just a crutch. You motor needs a large turbine wheel!

F.I. has the S400SX4-75 for $650, that is what you need.
