Default Compressor Surge Fixed.

This weekend past I installed the new Synapse Synchronic BOV. The unit performance great and I couldnt believe it solve the compressor surge. I used to have the Tial BOV 9 psi what came with my STS kit. The 9psi spring was too stiff and would barely discharge after the compressor surge. I change to the 7psi spring and it help reduce the compressor surge but it never got rid of it. On the 7 psi spring most of the compressor surge usually happens at part boost like 4-6 psi. When fully boost (8-9psi) it will compressor surge slightly and discharge fully. Compare to the Synapse BOV, the Synapse discharges fully at part and full boost. So far no problems and compressor surge has been eliminated. Special thanks to Robert @ Nippon Power for fixing the problem.

Does it use the same flange as the Tial?

Yes, you will have to buy the tial adapter flange to directly bolt on your existing Tial mounting flange.

I paid $220.00 for the Synapse BOV and Tial Adapter at my local shop Nippon Power.

Did you research any other synchronous BOVs before you bought the Synapse? I'm in the same boat. I bought a TiAL Sport 50mm with the 9psi spring and have the same issues you were describing. I have a friend recommending the HKS synchronous too, but I don't know much about them.

I did speak to the engineer from Synapse about their piston style bov before I made my purchase. The 2 important factors that sold me was that the bov does not leak under boost and the quick discharge and recovery of the BOV.

HKS Super Sequential BOV I have not use so I can not comment on it. As long as it does not leak and reduces compressor surge you should be fine.

I found a thread on honda-tech that compared the HKS SSQV and the Synapse and the guy liked the Synapse a lot better. I think I'll probably go the same way you did.
