compound twin turbo questions
ok im thinking of compound twin turbos.
does anyone know when doing twins of different sizes weather to put the smaller in line first or the bigger in line first????
i have a 76mm .96 ar and a t3t4 60mm i cant remember ar.
not sure if it is even possible but hey some ones gotta try it.
dont think i can fit a second 76mm on the driver side but i know for sure i can fit the smaller one so thats the entire reason for even wondering

and exhaust from both banks goes through both turbos. I had twin identical t4's once with one exhaust housing machined slightly different than the other and they would go into surge the instant i got into boost. Just spend the money on a proper turbo and you'll be much happier, I got a dozen used turbos on the shelf to prove it!

If you're gonna compound them...the exhaust will go into the smaller secondary first, then on to the primary....then out the exhaust. The inlet air will be drawn through the primary then piped into the secondary. The hot side piping to your IC will come out of the secondary.

I have a gauge for that

Ive talked about it in other threads, but like Jake alluded to, the pressure ratio gets too high for gasoline engines because of detonation. Diesels this obviously isnt a problem and is where you see most compound setups. Beyond that, you will probably put the larger turbo into surge if you were to try to run low enough boost for a gas engine to handle. Basically not an ideal setup. I think Kyle is working on a setup for someone that is intent on trying it, but like ive said before, I dont think it will work out well.
