Comming over to the dark side

Well think its time to bite the bullet and go forced. I found a a vortech v2 kit for a good price to put on my silvy z71 with a 5.3 bought a 6.0 and was going to stroke it but the budget says different so best bang for the buck is a charger for know and build the 6.0 over time. So the question is what do you guys think about the v2 pros and cons and did you like the power it added. Vortechs site says that it is set up to only run on a stock set up im not stock with cam and headers rest is stock can take care of with a good tune also why does the 99 not have the fmu or boost pump any feedback is appr thanks.

Yeah I would agree, a 5.3 with 37's and a moderate sized cam is gonna need a little more bottom end than the v2 can give you. If you got a good deal on it and are set on using it, some 4.56 gears will make a HUGE difference as far as power out of the hole, along with just easier daily driving. IMO if I were to build a nice daily driver, my ideal setup would be a tvs1900 with a stock torque converter, stock manifolds and around 8-9 psi. It would drive stock all day, and have all the power you would need.

Yea but cant find a used one in my price range. And i think that i just talked myself out of the v2 just due to lack of low end. Can build stock bottom on my 6.0 and get LE to do some light port work stuff a bigger cam and a stall in and tune and should have the same or better hp tq numbers than a 5.3 with a centri.

What kinda budget are you working with? I got a brand new Roush TVS 1900 with KB boosta pump and IAT mod I sell for $3500. You would still need a few little odds and ends to finish putting it on since it for a 07+ but several guys on here have done it.
