Geez at those prices, I could have six 6.0 long blocks LOL.

And I'm convinced ARP rod bolts is one of the biggest wastes out there, nobody ever loses a rod bolt because the motor eats a piston or snaps a rod before it ever happens haha.

I think I am about 5500 into my LY6 408. You could probably save a good bit by doing what you are willing yourself, and finding used parts, 2 408s on the FS section right
now for good prices.

Those prices are complete forged long blocks, not sure if they are bad prices or not. I'll look into that tho, the short block was tho around 3500.00. I could do that and use some the parts off my motor.

I could buy heads for now, put them on my current motor with a blower spacer. That will pick it up some for now. What heads i'm not sure, i keep getting told the best bang for the buck would be ported 317s.

I can also pick up another 6.0 and pull it apart, have it cleaned and bored. Then piece it together and have a few more bucks saved doing it this way. Or at a later date but the short block.. Its a toss up. My goal is a smaller goal, i'd like 600-650 motor hp. Maybe achieve 500 to the wheels in the end.

I don't think you can build an aftermarket stroker and not get forged rods.

But for what it's worth, I am also fully forged, as are the 408 for sale on this forum.

Not really into a stroker for a daily driver, also the 370 is probably more what I need I guess than the 408.

In a stock block I am not a fan of a 4" stroke either. Too much piston rock at BDC

Honestly, for your power goals a forged anything is way over kill. Guys make that kinda power on stock motors for years and years. The blower is gonna dictate your power since it has the final control of how much air your pumping through the motor, CI's, heads cam ect is just going move the power up or down the rpm range. You're pricing motors capable of 1000+hp!

When I called those 2 places that's what they suggested, not what I'll buy. I won't buy an 8k long block, it's not needed at all. Yes they may make that on stock bottom end motors, remember my motor is a 300 hp stock so it's not 345 plus like most. My blower has the smallest pulley and I also have a crank pulley, just did a cam, push rods, head gaskets, valve springs, timing set, lifters, lifter trays etc. Plus I do have alky control, im just looking for a little more power. I'd imagine I have about 500 now on motor, 50 to 100 hp more and I'd be happy.

A worked set of heads and bump the compression up a tad with the CC choice.

What are the cam specs you currently have.
