Default Calling Procharger guys.....head on in

Alright been putting together a custom kit for my 05 SSS. Here are the details:

D1SC head unit - polished
Tial Q series BOV - polished
Vibrant intercooler - polished
All custom tubing and couplers from Frozenboost.com

Engine is stock heads and bottom end LQ9 42k miles.
Custom grind Lunati Cam 235,243 / 625,625 @114
Five-O 70# injectors
Also I will have the nitrous ready to throw 50-75 on top

My question is this, I need to know what size pulley to go with. I will be running a Reichard pulley but still undecided on the size and amount of boost I should roll with. I obviously dont DD this truck so and im not afraid to push it a little. 05+ LQ9 came with LS2 rods and ARP bolts from the factory but as we all know the pistons are the weak link. Lets hear your opinions and suggestions to what I should do. FYI, I will be ordering the pulley before the end of the week.

All LQ9s have the good rods. That cam is way too big for your setup, unless youre running atleast a 4000 converter. Seems most of the procharger guys are running about 12#s on their 6.0s.

Forgot to mention I have a TCS billet 3400-3600 converter, fully built 60 shafts and all

What gets the d1 to 12#'s? I believe has been left out of your comment.

With that cam I believe a 3.7 ought to get pretty close since its an LQ9, I believe sharpshooter is runing a 3.6 on his D1SC LQ4 but with a smaller cam and getting 12#s. Im sure him, sureshot, or mangled will chime in soon for sure.

I ran that size cam in a 418 stroker and it ate up a 4K converter, a high 220s duration cam is the biggest Id run with that converter. Youre going to need a 4000-4200 to even get close to the powerband of that cam.

I just tried to write a response for the OP and after 4 paragraphs I got frustrated. There is too little information about the rest of you set up to make an educated guess. Comparing with others will be skewed as they aren't turning the rpm that I assume you will be. Also, the better question you should ask is what pulley to get to a certain power level. In which case we can figure out how much rpm the impeller needs to turn to deliver the amout of air to support that number. Power is a result of airflow, boost is just a measurement of airflow restricion.

Answer these questions:
How much power do you want to make?
What heads?
Head bolts/studs?
What head gaskets?
What valvetrain?
What intake?
What exhaust?
what psi where the injectors rated at?
What is the rest of your fuel system made of?
What are the dimensions on the intercooler?
Is the cranked pinned or keyed?
what belt tensioner do you have?
Is this a track only truck?

Depending on what your trying to do that cam/converter combo isn't ideal in my opinion.

What heads? - factory 317's
Head bolts/studs? - factory
What head gaskets? - factory
What valvetrain? - Pac nitrated springs .650 lift, hardened pushrods, stock rockers with Comp full roller trunion upgrade kit
What intake? - stock intake as my nitrous system is designed around it
What exhaust? - 1 7/8 ARH into Corsa Sport
what psi where the injectors rated at?
60 lbs/hr at 43.5 PSI, 625 cc/min at 3 BAR
64 lbs/hr at 50 PSI, 670 cc/min at 3.5 BAR
69 lbs/hr at 58 PSI, 725 cc/min at 4 BAR

What is the rest of your fuel system made of? - factory returnless w/ Bosch 044 intake upgraded wiring
What are the dimensions on the intercooler?
Core Width: 22" (overall width with end tanks: 30")
Core Height: 9"
Core Thickness: 3.25"
Inlet Diameter: 2.5"
Outlet Diameter: 2.5"
Approx. Flow Rate for this intercooler: 725 CFM at 1.5PSi pressure drop
Approx. HP Rating for this intercooler: 550 HP

Is the cranked pinned or keyed? - pinned
what belt tensioner do you have? - factory
Is this a track only truck? - street/strip. I do not drive much so a radical setup isnt a big deal

Depending on what your trying to do that cam/converter combo isn't ideal in my opinion.
Any suggestions on cam specs?

Thanks for you help!

I'm running a D1 on an LQ4 with the vinci trucker cam (216/224 551/551 115 lsa). I run a 3.6" pulley and shift at 5800, and I see 14#'s of boost. I think the cam specs you quoted are too big. I'm really happy with the cam I'm running, but I do think you could get away with a slightly bigger cam.
