Boosted fuel choices E85 or 93&Meth
#1
I have had lengthy conversations about this topic with some very repected names. I want this discussion out there though for others to learn from and to give me the ammo to more forward with a very painful decision. I am on 93/meth and a couple of the fast folk say I need to jump to corn liquor to get the most out of my new build. Meth is a high octane fuel source and I am hitting mine with 30 GPH now. Some really smart folk break it down for me why my meth93 combo will never beat majic corn liquor. I need details, science and some good old fashioned reassurance that corn is king.

Depends on your goals...id say the break even point in terms of power would be around 20psi of boost. With that said I use 93/meth at 25psi. Dont forget you will get terrible gas mileage and tough cold starts with e85. The latter not such a problem in summer but will become one in the fall/winter.

, are you sure that combo of 93 and meth is not what rattled the guts out of your built engine? That is the very situation I am trying desperately to avoid. Please don't take the first statement wrong, I know there is a lot of pioneering on your part to push those levels. THANKS for replying.

I will also be running 93/meth just because the nearest E85 station is 25min away and im afraid I will stay without gas one day. But I would like to try E85 just to see if there is enough of a difference to make a change.

I would run e85 hands down IF there were more stations around me with it. There's only two that I know of and they are both 20+ min away. I know a few guys that made the switch to e85 and never looked back. Even a couple max effort N/A applications

5 years ago this answer would have been easy. E85 benefits notwithstanding...it's a toss up now. I've been running a 50% mix for about a year and a half now and I'll have to admit, it certainly gets old. I can still pull down decent mileage, but still not on par with pump gas alone. Considering the increased price and general lack of availability, I am looking at other options..
