Blower Selection??? Procharger, Maggie, or Whipple??
#1
hey i need some help deciding what blower to go with. i have a 08 scsb silverado with dynatech longtubes and y-pipe no cats. intake and duals. i am installing a precision 2800 stall hopefully tomorrow and shift kit with servo and taking my bully dog chip out for a custom tune. my next step is selecting a blower for an everyday driver. i like the procharger and its placement. but i heard PD blowers are better at low end but i want to be able to have traction as well, please advise...

The maggie is the way to go, unless you run a bigger verter, gears.. I love mine(procharger), it drives like a all motor ride would untill you get down in it then hold the *** on... Nay to whipples, they havn't had a great track record with people, there setups in general.. Its all what you want out of your truck, different strokes for different folks.

Being a SCSB I would assume you have a 4.8L? 2x4? Traction will be a major issue with a Magncharger ...Slick or Great Drag Radials will be a must. Prochargers are nice but it is a must to get the intercooled one... and will probably be best suited for you to have alittle lag in order to get the truck rolling before the power comes on in such a light truck. I love the low end power of the Magnacharger but I am also not in full Drag Race mode in a 6000lb SUV.
I would wait for the tune till after the Supercharger.. no point in doing it twice.

My opinion is biased, I am a torque addict. Magnacharger gets my vote. 2800 stall is a little high for the Maggie though, and probably a little low for the Procharger. If you want it to pull like a big block at low rpm, Maggie gets it done.

Go with an intercooled Maggie.
About your tune. If you go Maggie they will ask you what mods you have and supply you with a tune to match. You may want to save your cash on the tune until you mount any blower.
With the free flowing exhaust you will need some experience on the tune and Maggie knows best.
Stay with their tune through out the warranty period to be safe.
To make sure you get the most from it go to a Dyno before the install and after and report to Magnuson if she falls short. They will dial you in.
The after is also to double check the AF mixture. Any good Dyno shop will hook up a wide band o2 sensor.
On the After run make sure the Dyno operator writes down your Air-Fuel Ratio. Maggie will want to know.
The Maggie is a beautiful turn key kit that looks factory.
