Default Backfire and wb starts working... it's a freakin miracle!!

Yep. Had the wb guage installed 2 weeks ago and it never left the mark between 15 and 16 until tonight.

The tune had been very lean and the truck would not run for ****. Anything over 4k rpm and it would start missing, the battery light would come on, the low fuel light would come on.... all hell would break loose.

I got a new tune from Nelson today that he said was very rich but the dammed thing wold still not run.... same results... missing, would not rev over 4500, no power.... it seemed lean as hell... but on a rich tune?.

Finally on the way home I gave it about 1/2 throttle in 3rd gear and it started missing and backfired and wonder of wonders the wb guage started working. Guess it needed a jolt

Once it started working it was immediately obvious why the truck had no power. The rest of the way home the wb never read below 13 and that was only immediately after leaving a stop sign. From then on it was always above 15 and at 1/2 throttle or more it was at 16 or 17!

Nelson said it was a rich tune. Yet according to the wb it's lean as hell. So that's gotta mean injectors.... huh? (Still doesn't explaing why the 02 sensor always reads 445 or so on bank 2... ALL the time.. according to my scan guages.)

Am I just running out of injector and in need of new/bigger ones or is there something I can do? Could they not be getting the correct signal to dump gas?

How hard is it to change injectors? It looks kind of hard on the j tube side

Well anyway... I sure appreciate the miracle of the awakened wb. Must have something to do with the season... spring bringing all the things to new life and all.. huh?

Do you have the Aeroforce Interceptor? I noticed on mine that one of my O2's was kind of sluggish. I changed it out and it seemed to help the truck run better. If you have a handheld scanner or computer hook it up and make sure the O2 is switching(reading) If it's not then it will dump loads of fuel because the computer thinks its running lean. You don't want to dump too much gas in the converter or it'll melt.

I have never posted this because I have no proof but I am very confident that my narrow band Autometer Cobalt guage fried 2 O2's with only 5k on the truck. They burnt up in the same location no matter how much I swaped them around. They failed on the one that had the narrowband guage tapped off of it. My problems became worse when I put on the long tubes. We actually watched one die after swaping some around with only 10 miles of tuning on it. you could see it get lazy(slow) then slowly flatline within about 1 minute. I bought 2 new O2's and never hooked up the guage again and I never had a problem. Your one hanging around 445 shows that it is lazy and maybe flatlined. Narrowbands oscillate lean/rich about once a second due to the way they operate and tell the computer to add fuel. Basically they oscillate because that is actually what is happening to your a/f ratio while cruising and idling. The computer see's rich then backs off on fuel then sees lean and adds. This all happens really fast. That is why narrowbands are really acurate. In a perfect world every car would come with widebands from the factory and the computers would actually be able to read them.
Mine would buck and pop, miss and backfire while cruising when an O2 died. Unfortunately they are around $100 a piece.

You can get the universal ones at the parts store for $65 , and just solder the factory end to it. I had to I was in a pinch and noone had a direct fit one in stock.
