Default Back from fbody. Need help.

Well I sold my Z28 so it's back to the Silverado . I recently acquired a 6.0 from a wrecked van that I was going to swap in the Camaro but now it's just going to sit in my garage until I can buy a new DD when I graduate then I'll swap it into the truck but, For now I need something reliable for everyday duty. I'm going to get an out of the box FI kit (magnacharger or STS) and a stall. My goal is to be able to make enough power to push the truck into 13's. I'm really leaning toward the Magnacharger because of the ease of the install and completeness of the kit. My question would be is my goal of 13's attainable with my current mods + the Radix and stall? My truck has the mighty 4.8 so keep that in mind. Oh and it no longer has the 20" wheels in the sig either. I put the much lighter stock 17" 5 spokes back on.

13's is easily attainable. I have the 4.8 w/ a front mount turbo, and i went 13.8 at 6#'s without my stall. With it i gained .5 in the 1/8th. I can guarantee you 13's wont suit you for long.

The Magnacharger propelled my best of 15.03 NA truck right into the low 13.3's with the kit and a cam swap, converter and tune. A little more tweaking and you can get 12's easy!

I don't know man. You do have a 5.3 vs. my 4.8. I just want to run the tune that comes with the Magnacharger for saftey sake. So basically it would be Longtubes, ORY, 4.10's, Stall, and the Radix with the Magnacharger tune.

You are lighter (vs. my 4x4) have less drivetrain loss, better gearing, long tubes (i had shortys), I think it very possible if....IF you have the right tires/traction.

Nope!! I still have an open diff. and I'm running stock tires. I will take care of that too though.

Just weighing out my options and researching. I like the turbo setups but they seem complicated and high maintainence to me.

Sounds like you have a budget to stay within. I have to throw in the fact you could do a used sts like I did and have alot of power for cheap. I have nothing but good things to say about my setup. It takes more wrenching and attention on your part, but it won't cost you a 5k buy in either. Once it was dialed in, my wrenches got dusty. Also, my truck gets 15.5 mpg in the city back and forth to work everyday. Happy FI hunting

Well I'm not broke but I'm not rich either. I just want a set up with room for advancement for when I do the motor swap. For now I need something that is pretty reliable because I definitely can't be tuning weekly or replacing transmissions and rear ends once a month.

Again , Your input leads me thinking turbo. I assure you a turbo is easier on your other parts than a radix. Power comes on more smoothly and does not build boost unless you want it to. As for upgrades, Turbos are much easier to tweak down the road. My truck was tuned over a year ago on the street in one day by a young man that owns his own small tuning bis. It has not been modified since that day! I run a stock trans with over 100k on it. If I push it hard, it'll slip. If I keep the boost under 5 psi, It shifts fine. I was gonna buy a radix, but I ran across a used sts kit, and the deal was to sweet. I am glad I went the way I did. But my friend has a radix and his truck is badass.Well , his mods were triple the $$$ I have spent tho...

If you don't turn your own wrenches, turbos are not your bag... IMO
