Default A2W intercooler setup questions

So after Txsilverado made the post about interchillers, my gears have been turning ever since.

I am excited to be trying something new to me (and alot of others).

I will be using an A2W intercooler with the active interchiller. I have no experience with a2w much less the AI.

So i'm looking for an intercooler to buy. I am not looking to get a chiseled or custom Garrett core made. Looking to use an ebay intercooler. If i wasn't using the AI then i would be spending the money for a "good one" but I think i will be pleased with the ebay and AI. Anyways, I'm looking to get a big one so it will be most effective.

Motor is forged rod/piston 6.0 with s475 T4 but will be upgrading to s480.
Eventually looking to make 900ish rwhp or whatever the turbo will give me.

These are 2 1500hp ones that i have looked at so far.

CXRACING 3.5" Inlet&Outlet 1500HP Huge Liquid Water to Air Intercooler 15x13x11 | eBay

Intercooler Liquid Water Air 1500+HP Brand NEW | eBay

I have pm'd Gadgetized (thanks for answering my questions). Since he is happy with his a2w on the street, I am going to go give it a try. He is running a 1000 hp china a2w and suggested the one in the second link.

Can anyone give me a recommendation on the above a2w intercoolers listed or any other intercooler?

Interesting both those cores be rated at 1500hp or above and are completely different in design and layout.
With any intercoolers with all things the same.
Bigger is better.

Long air travel but not much area.

CXRACING 3.5" Inlet&Outlet 1500HP Huge Liquid Water to Air Intercooler 15x13x11 | eBay
150" flow area.
Huge area short air travel area. Massively more air flow.

That was exactly my thought as well! I'm currently offshore in the GOM. When i get in next week I am going to measure and see where i can mount the intercooler. My plan is to use the biggest core i can fit.

I always get confused on this. Some say the longer the better and others say shorter with more area is better.

That's a BIG difference in flow area between the 2! I came up with 47.5" & 75" though.

I know you said you where looking for a low quality A2W unit, but have to say, you'll regret it and be spending the money twice when you realize it is garbage.

That said, I'll insert a shameless plug here and let you know that my entire A2W set up is for sale. It worked insanely good (you won't need the other system). It is a "real" Precision PT2000, can come with a 6+ gallon tank with Rule 2000 pump built in and almost all necessary -16 lightweight plumbing to basically do a complete install.

If it leaves more to be desired then i will upgrade the intercooler later. Plus, id like to see the comparison between the china and garrett type cores. I feel confident that with the chiller it will maintain the iats but only one way to find out!

PM sent regarding your A2W setup.

Which do you recommend Rick? Make a "Race" a2w kit so i can just get it from you! I'll be getting a plastic tank from you anyways.

sweet, relevant data from my drive to work this morning.

i have a 5.3 with twin 6662s and this IC:
CXRacing Liquid Water to Air Intercooler 18"x13"x4.5", 4.5" Core: 10"x9"x4.5" | eBay

i modified the coolant ports to use 1" hose.

I have a varimax pump that lingenfelter sells. I do not have a coolant tank, instead the whole capacity of my ic water is a full size radiator as seen here:
http://images.couldbeworse.org/IMG_4460.JPG

here is a pull from this morning, fully up to temp

some highlights:
5.58 seconds of wot
iat starts at 88f, ends at 118f
ect starts at 185f, ends at 187f
boost is ~17
mph start is 35mph

with all that said, after seeing how my evo does with an air to air ic, i am seriously considering just going to the biggest a/a i can fit on the truck.
