67 turbo
#1
Hey guys...I'm a long way from actually doing this but wanted to see what you guys thought about it.
1st off I have a car to go fast with so I'm not looking to get crazy with my truck, mostly just want more pulling power from that big burst of torque you get when you roll into the throttle a little on a turbo motor without having to downshift.
I have an 87 GN with a 67 p-trim and a .63 3 bolt housing...I'm going to upgrade it at some point and I'm thinking about putting it on my truck. 99 5.3 ecsb Z71
Probably run it on 93 until E85 becomes more readily available local.
Any thoughts?

Oh by the way my truck is pretty much stock ...rebuilt tyranny with a good clutches and a wide band, rebuilt rear with a trutrac, drop in k&n and a tube from the air box to the tv without all that silencer crap.

Change the exhaust housing if you can to something like .81 with a 3" v-band exit... if you must keep the turbo. I have a Turbonetics T66 with their F1 exhaust wheel and I really like it. I've had a 60-1 P-Trim with a .68 housing and it was damn near like a Magnuson... having owned one of those too. The instant boost is gratifying but the 60-1 starts to die at about 5k RPM on the 5.3's. Anyway, sounds like you have a good turbo for what you are looking for... maybe consider a bit larger exhaust housing. I don't know the GN exhaust size but if its anything less than 3" you might be choking the 5.3.

Wow I had a 60-1 on my Buick and it spooled good, if it was like that on a 3.8 I can't imagine on a 5.3.
Some really good info there, sounds like I'm pretty close...I thought about putting an .85 housing on it now too pick up my car for the year and try to get a new turbo like next winter...sounds like it would be good for both vehicles.
