Default 6 rib setups

Why do most of the forced induction kits only utilize a 6 rib belt? The majority of owners step up to more boost than what the base kits offer. Then there is the issue of belt slip with more boost. It won't drive the cost of the kit up, so why not offer kits with 8 rib setups?

I believe it's because most V8 applications use a 6 rib serpentine unless S/C'd from the factory.

That makes sense, but brings up another issue. It's best to have a dedicated drive for the blower rather than sharing the accesory belt.

I'm not reffering to any kits in particular. I've seen many examples where the Camaro, Mustang, Vette, etc all get the "trick" setup. Then the trucks get the "adequate, just enough to get the job done" kit. The trucks mod just as much as the cars. I do realize in some cases the design may not allow for it, although some are very creative.

Oh well, doesn't matter now. Back before I owned my L and had other superchargers I would get frustrated at the lack of thought for truck kits. They're better now, but some could still use improving.

I was always jelous of what was available for GM trucks. Especially when the Radix kit came out. In my opinion there wasn't anything close, in quality, for the last generation Fords. Looks like I missed the boat on that one. Now there is a great kit for the 3V 5.4L. I can't wait to race one.

I think for the standard kits they are just fine but when we start to flex these systems for max potential a better system may help quite a bit starting with an 8rib setup and progressing to whatever might be needed

Indeed.

Btw, do you ever roam around or cruise for the hell of it. Ever head down to Escondido and check out the small street scene on Grand?

Let me know I'd like to check out your truck.
