6.2 turbo build

speaking of towing with your turbo you seem pretty knowledgeable so let me ask you a question. I had a turbo on a 07 nnbs and towed with it and was seeing constant egt's of 1500 and max of about 1900. I just got a 2011 silverado and just started my turbo build. I'm turboing to tow. I was thinking of installing a meth kit to keep the egt's down (I don't want to melt my 5.3L) but you say you wont be using meth to tow with. Aren't the egt's I was seeing dangerous?

I plan on not use meth, but if a need to I will. Your old setup sound like the exhaust house was a little small making it stay in boost all the time. Where was your egt sensor located?

It was a sts remote mount turbo and when towing I could get full boost by 2000rpm all dependent on how far my foot is in the trottle. But I live in the rockies so im always going up and down steep grades. so I need the power im just a little worried about melting my engine. I placed the probe in the exhaust half way between the manifold and converter.

Do you have to have the cat???? 1200 to 1400 degree is the rule of thumb. If it 1500 going up hill add a little fuel or pull a little timing. Meth would be good But you would need a big tank. Plus a free flow exhaust is a must...

11.5 should I dump a little more for towing? I've also been told putting more fuel in will lower cylinder temps but up egt's becsuse the fuel will still be burning as it goes through the exhaust. Is this true?Any advise is welcome I don't want to ruin my engine but need the power around here.

Correct me if i'm wrong but with the turbo after the cats they shouldn't matter right? Because the turbo is the most restrictive part of the system the cats aren't to restricting where the turbo is after them.

I was thinking you had a front mount. Sorry.. I didn't read....Im not sure about being in front the turbo. I only build and run front mounted systems. But I would think being in front of the turbo 1500 is not bad.
