Looks like a fun project. I would do a blower instead of a turbo on something like that personally. A used mp112 or tvs1900 would be much easier than a turbo and still reach your goals.

I haven't ruled out using a blower yet. I like turbo setups which is why I would like to go that route.

I have been told by other that this setup even slightly modified would not work at all and be a waste of time.

I personally think it's do able and will have good all around performance. Not looking for a race car or a power monster just good power and drivability

You didnt mention the heads you are using. If they are the stock ones you will be fine with what you have planned out.

What model truck is that?

What were they saying that isn't going to work? Seem like a pretty mild build and you have reasonable goals.

My old 05 2500HD was a bone stock 6 liter with 6" lift on 35's using a KBRacing Master Power 70mm front mount kit. On 7#'s of boost it made 438rwhp. On 12lbs it made 526rwhp and the turbo was maxed out. I towed crap from California to North Carolina without a hiccup. Plus lighting 4 35" tires up from a stop was fun as hell, until it would take the trans/transfer case adapter out.

Yes stock heads.

They were saying that the truck will be pointless before 3rd gear being a manual. And that it will have no power till the turbo lights up. I don't plan on running a huge turbo i think there just hatin more then anything but they keep saying do and cam and tune to get the power I want.

The truck is a 1979 AMC Jeep J20 factory 3/4 ton. 360 4spd

Joey- that's what I was looking for. I still want to be able to tow my camper on the weekend to the lake and occasionally my LS powered YJ to the off-road park.

It looks like an awesome truck to put that power plant in. I love seeing all the different kinds of platforms that LS's find their way into.
