5.3 vs 6.2 with PD supercharger

5.3 vs 6.2 with PD supercharger
Just wondering if you can make around the same HP with a 5.3 vs 6.2 if you're stuffing the same amount of air down both of them with a PD Blower. I would assume the 6.2 would make more power easier because of the bigger better flowing heads but how much?

Part for part the 6.2 should give you about 100 more hp no matter how you sclice it. I will say that a 5.3 can make good power though, mine is sporting a tvs1900 and few basic mods and it's right at 500rwhp now. Cam, springs, valves, push tubes, etc are going in next and I'm going for 600 rwhp. Stick with the 5.3 if you already have it...

I have nothing right now. I've been kicking around the idea of doing a engine swap in something and was thinking it would be cool to slap a blower on it if I did it. Obviously I could find a 5.3 a lot easier and for less money than a 6.2. On a turbo setup I wouldn't hesitate to use a 5.3 or even a 4.8, you can just turn the boost up. Was wondering if you can just pulley down a 5.3 until it would make roughly the same as a 6.2 if I had a bigger supercharger like a tvs2300 or 2.9 whipple.

The power adder determines the final output. A PD blower has to work harder (more boost) on a smaller engine, so drive power is higher compared to a larger engine so it will make slightly less power. For instance, maxed out tvs1900 on a 5.3 will probably make 550rwhp whereas on a 6.2 it would be in the 600-625rwhp range.

Its more question of torque than HP. too much low rpm torque will kill any rod, but if you make your power higher then it is much easier on the engine overall. I cant answer your question of how much, but yea I would think you could do it in a 5.3 with a big enough blower.
