Hello, I am looking to install a turbo on my stock 5.3 v8 2000 Silverado 1500. I would like to be around 450-500 horsepower. I don't want to build a crazy build, just something I can drive and still use as a "truck" if I need a truck, and have a nice little boost of power without changing internals. I don't know anything about turboing an engine. I've done some research but I'm still a little lost. I would like to know
*What all do I need for a single turbo on a stock 5.3
*What is the best kit to buy and where
*How much will it cost. I'm hoping to only spend no more than $2000. Any more and I may consider just keeping it stock and putting a new exhaust on

Def not going to get a reliable turbo system built and tuned for 2k unless you do your own fab work, own tuning and are ok buying import parts

Best start looking at what exhaust you want

 

It'll cost you 4-5k just for a good turbo kit and injectors/fuel pump/map sensor.

Then you need even more money for the 4L60e replacement because that won't handle that power level and a new driveshaft too.

 

Forget the turbo for that small amount of $. Maybe just do nitrous for an occasion flog and just daily your truck for reliability. Even then tranny problems can happen. Save your money.
