Default 214 Extra HP with the Magnuson/Eaton 122 Supercharger!

The new issue of Hot Rod magazine, page 94, features an article about coating engine parts and the increased hp/torgue available from coating. It also sports a 402 with the Magnuson Eaton high tech 122 supercharger.

The tests show 214 extra hp and 191 more lb/ft of torque made from using the 122. No changes to anything else. NA the the 402 makes 547.6 lb-ft and 559 hp. With the 122 it makes 732.8 lb-ft and 764.6... with coated headers only. With all the parts coated it makes about 7 more hp and 11 more lb/ft of torque.

The engine uses the Dart 225 heads and a Crane cam. Boost is listed as 11.8 psi and the c.r. is shown as 10.2: 1.

Someone needs to do aa test with the same motor and just swap forms of FI on it with a cam optimize for that form so we can see without a doubt what does what. I bet the tq curve on that motor is nice.

The hp/torque increase was measured after testing the engine with a FAST intake. I'm thinkin that with Methanol this setup should be making over 800 hp/torque. Run a little smaller pulley, do maybe 14 psi boost and maybe then do 850 hp/torque, or over 700 at the wheels.
