I had a cam in, but It was a car cam, and made some nice power between 4000-6000 RPM, and no ***** down low. I put the stock cam back in for now.
The new cam should make some good power with a nice exhaust and a stall.

 

T, just for reference and food for thought. I cut consistant 1.9 60fts with a stock 5.3, dual exhaust, intake, tune, 3K stall and a 100 shot spraying out of the hole in 4hi. With your mods I would bet you could hit 1.7s fairly easily with good track prep.

 

You're right, it should be better.
My tires are spinning even in 4wd running a bone stock tranny/verter w/37k on it. Track was good... it's all me... leaving .3 -.5 second on the table.

It's SSDD for me. I went out last night aiming for 13.5, ran 13.2 and am still not satisfied w/it.
Watching Fred roast me at the light didn't seem so bad but watching the vid it's making me want to

Ted as you already know, you just need to get a converter in it. That'll help with the 60fts.

 

Or maybe just get a radix. Obviously that works too. Or was is just the GMC that beat your Chevy....JFWY

I would love to have either one of those trucks.
