MSD coils dont work as well as the later model truck coils {LS2 style}

ive been 25psi with br7ef gapped at .024 and no spark issues up to 7400 rpms with 20* timing e85

JY 6.0 with a little 218/224 cam.....1053rwhp on 23psi thru TH400 on a DJ

Is this the new designed ones? Also are you running Msd 2 step that extends the harness, then a harness extender to move the coils and then 24-30" spark plug wire?

No msd but am using the LPE 2 step

Stock coils and stock length plug wires

If I was you I'd find late model coils before using a msd coil on the LS setups

Have you measured the resistance of your wires? I know the 8.5mm summit wire I bought was around 30ohms/ft, and the 10.4mm taylor wire is around 10ohm/ft. Stock wires are like 1000ohm/ft.

I mean trust me I had a cold sweat buying 600 coils but I'm sick of gapping down. I have 14+ volts and a tight gap, just getting frustrated and want to be done with it.

Atomic I have MSD's custom LS kit on the turbo side, 8.5mm.. The drivers side didn't need extended on the relocation, but I'm still running new set of Bosch OEM replacment style plug wires. I thought about cutting my custom MSD's for that side to but I liked having replacements available for the turbo side.

Might be worth checking though. I'm also not 100% sure on the health of my stock coils with 120k miles on them.

Not fan of msd wires. I've swapped them out for gm stockers and saw a gain of power

Were talking 5hp but was back to back to back just make sure wasn't a fluke

Thanks Choda!

Made some progress tonight, I got the MSD upgraded power wires installed and red seems to be picking them up and layin them down pretty damn good. I also installed a couple extra grounds off the heads to ensure there wasn't somethin else going on. That said, laying into her in 3rd at mid 90 mph she was knocking the tires off tonight, so that will have to due to the dyno.

I believe the tune is pretty close under WOT on this new 3 bar setup. As you can see there is no spike in the boost on street, nice and even at 25-26psi. Added some fuel in the part throttle boost. My base fuel pressure is 60 and was holding solid at 85-86 with the recent 3-Walbro 450's and -10 feed. Looks like the 127's will tap soon, but I honestly think 25psi is my cap.

Looking forward to Saturday!
