I think the transmission would definately had lasted had the truck not been so friggin heavy. I got the transmission from www.transmissioncenter.net - just click on the price list. They will tell you on the site that the rated HP of the Mega Raptor 4L60E is 700HP/700TQ, but when I bought it they said 600/600. Having 4WD, oversize tires, a lot of weight are three of the five things that'll bring that final number down. If I had a 2WD and normal tires on a pickup instead of a SUV, I believe it would have lasted without a problem. The stocker gave up the ghost in 1 day.

The sun shell of the trans I bought is an upgraded billet piece, plus some other goodies. The trans carries a 6 month unlimited warranty, which is good, but I am just out of the warranty period, which is bad. I called them and they told me if I ship it back to them, and pay for the freight to send it back to me, they'll fix it no charge.

Since you have a pickup, I don't see why this trans wouldn't really work out for you. My truck would leave without spinning the tires, which is what I think contributed to killing the trans, besides several other things. I do have a question though - Does the 1999 Tahoe with the L31 have Torque Management? They say you should use the Predator to change the trans parameters to not kill the trans with having a stall converter.

I am going to get the trans fixed in the next couple of weeks, put some lighter/smaller tires on it, and get it dynoed. I want to know what it makes for sure.

It should be very strong!!!! What are your guesses as far as what it will put down??? Also, how did you adapt the holley EFI into the stock wiring harness (or did you junk the stock wiring harness) If I have the money later on down the road I want to know how tough it is to put in an aftermarket EFI. I just want it to be worth it.

Depending on who tuned your computer, you might have torque management. I think all GM vehicles have T.M. to save the weak trannies they install. Yes, L31's included. Its just that its so obvious on high performance V8's that it really slows them down. Hey, thats what they're made for.......torque.

5000 lbs, tall tires, high rpms, all bad for transmissions.

I'd like to see what you run at the track.

I will try to run mine next week.

Automatic transmissions hate me. I have killed five transmission in various cars over the years. I have not a clue what it'll put down, but when I get the trans back I'll find out.

I have the GM Shop Manual for my Tahoe, and I spliced into the stock harness for several of the sensors so it'd have a clue about the engine. I didn't use the MAF, so it constantly shows an SES light, but I just ignore it. The truck is currently having the trans removed for shipping, when I get it back I'll take a few pics of under the hood.

So you used the Holley sensors tapped into the stock harness to detect some of the paramaters??? Are you using any stock sensors such as Cam position, map, tp, crank position, etc???

Sent you a reply to your email, sorry it took so long...

I haven't sent the trans out yet. Not having a truck is becoming quite the paradox. It's boxed up, just not shipped yet. Hopefully on Monday. With any luck, it'll be back in the truck in the next two weeks...

I am using the stock crank position. The cam sensor I get from the distributor, the map, tps, iat, and water temp I use the Holley sensors.
