6.0L 5-Speed Dyno Day (Part 2)

Ok guys, so here's the low down. I was going to keep it a surprise but I just can't bring myself to complete my test.
What I HAVE DONE so far is dyno'd the truck with the new cam and have the numbers. On the other hand what I neglected to tell everyone is that I did this all with the TBSS 90mm intake manifold. The numbers are about what I expected. Look at the almost 50 RWHP difference up top at 5400 RPM + I know I lost 20 RWTQ down low but I don't even feel or need it as I never use that power down low unless I'm cruising.
What I'd like to do (or I was making you guys wait for) was put the stock intake manifold on and retune and run it again. I was going to show you guys a back to back difference of intake manifold swaps on this mild 6L I have. Unfortunatly due to funds this isn't going to happen. I just don't have the $75 to do 3 runs at this time. If you guys were truly interested in seeing the performance difference in intake manifolds, I'd be up for donations then post them but at this time I just don't have the money myself.

Nice results. It looks like you got what you were after, but personally, I'm not sure you came out with a better street truck. The new cam doesn't surpass the old one until about 5k, and it's down fairly significantly below that. You also have to factor in the TBSS intake probably got your 10-15 rwhp over the truck intake.

I can't comment on the intake manifold to be honest........
I did get what I wanted though. And for MY SETUP the new cam works a lot better. Notice how I said "MY SETUP". With the short gears in the NV3500, short little stock tires and 3.73 gears, I am seldom under 4K RPM's unless I'm on the interstate. I have a log file of mine where the truck does 65-95 MPH in 3rd in roughly 4.4 seconds. That's moving out pretty good for a small motor. In a few years maybe I can talk the wifey into letting me build something bigger and better. For now this is all it's going to be.

If you guys want I'd be more than happy to swap intakes and do another test for you. No one on this or any other truck forum has done this that I could ever find. That was going to be the big "surprise" but as stated earlier, I just don't have the funds to be throwing around for "experiments". The wife would murder me, stuff me in a bag and bury me in some remote corn field in north dakota.

Dont you find it odd though that a 224/228 cam is peaking at 5700 and dropping off so fast? I'm really beginning to wonder if the person that hand ported your heads screwed up the air flow somehow...

yea peaking at 5700 is pretty weird... i had to stop my smaller cam at 5900 but it was still pulling strong

Not in the least bit. He couldn't have screwed the heads up. There was no reshaping of the intake or exhaust runners. The porting could hardly be called porting. The guy simply took the casting "bumps" out.
