Default Difference between 1990s 4L80E and LS 4L80E??

Hey guys,

Quick question: What is the difference between a 4L80E from a 1990s truck (TBI or Vortec) vs. one from an LS powered truck?

Basically, I want to swap the 4L60E from my 5.3L powered truck for a 1995 4L80E that I found, and I need to know if my PCM can/will control it??? Any other differences? I am most worried about the wiring, however.

Please help!

Thanks in advance!
-Jeff

It should work. I'm pretty sure Wilde Racing is running a 1996 4l80e. It won't have the top bolt hole in the bellhousing and the cooler fittings will be in a different position. The Hydramatic division also made some changes to the trans in 1999 and 2001 which made it stronger.

D'oh!! Just realized that I accidentally posted it in the "Dodge/Jeep" specific forum.
Can a mod please move this to the GM forum?

Thanks GMCtrk!
