Default 6 speed Manual in Ram 1500 Hemi

I would love to have a 6 speed manual in a Ram 1500.
Has anyone done this?

The 05-06 Ram 2500 Hemi came with the G56 6-speed. I test drove a 06 2500 Hemi 6 speed. It's a heavy duty trans but shifts easy enough to be fun to drive. It works good for towing with the extra low gearing in 1st and reverse. Put a Gear Vendors overdrive behind it and split shifts and have a close ratio 10 speed (some overlap, so not really 12 gear ratios) with double overdrive for 1800 rpm 80 mph cruising.

Will the large G56 trans fit in the tunnel area of the 1500?

I don't really need or want all the towing capacity and extra weight of a 2500, but, I really want that manual trans. A 2500 weighs about 600-700 lbs more than a 1500. 2500 Ram Hemi 6 speeds are very rare.

Thanks,
Jim

A 6 speed manual was not available with the Hemi in a 1500.

The 6 speed was only behind the V6 and 4.7 V8. It was a small light duty trans.

I don't see why it wouldn't fit. The 2500 and 1500 cabs are identical as far as I know. You will need to fabricate the transmission cross-members and driveshaft.
