What transfer case are you using?
I've never really followed what the 4x4 or AWD drive guys do for the Tcase, but I am a little curious. Is there like a "Jesus Transfer Case" that you guys run? Does it need any modifications to hold up?
Pretty sure Parish8 pioneered the 4x4/AWD set up. What was he having luck with?

Yea Parish was one of the first to do one of these trucks turbo in 4x4 anyway. Transfer case is the orig factory autotrak that came in the truck. All I have done is install the larger input hub to accept the 4L80E output and had to replace the shift fork, chain and few hard parts after a few runs of trying to shift to 2 wd under power. Truck has a lot of street runs and daily driven miles on it since building back in 2007.

I use the 250,000 mile stock manual shift 1500 tcase. I replaced the chain when I tore it apart but really didnt need to, everything looked perfect. Like stock48 the only thing I changed was the input gear to go to the 80e. They are strong as hell, unless you try to shift out (or in) under power. The shift and mode forks are relatively wimpy in comparison.
Fun fact, the owners manual says never to drive in 4wd over 40mph

Simply awsome. Had any luck running the truck at Famoso without getting hassled? It's remarkable how lax they are there. I'll jump in and say I have been inspired by you, Parish, Atomic and all the other 4wd and turbo truck guys. It's remarkable how easy it seems what with the wealth of online information, but there are an infinite number of things that can go wrong along the way. I learned something crucial even from your most recent post:
I was considering shifting into 2wd after the 2nd gear shift. Now I definitively know not to.

3.73s were typically reserved for towing packages after i think 04, or maybe it was other way around, 3.73s without tow package 3.42s with...also had something to do with fuel mileage/epa crap....

The earlier Z71's with tow package like my truck had 3.73's. Around about 05~07 the only choice was 3.42 or 4.10. Not sure why GM did this but it was a shitty deal. I have a 06 tahoe 4x4 with the 3.42's and 33's. I't awful and I plan on swapping it to 4.10's before long. Before I put the 6.0L in it, it would hardly even pull od under 75 mph and kicked out on any little incline. The 6.0L helped out a ton but it's still way too high geared. It will do right at 100 MPH in the 1/4 still not even close to hitting 3rd gear.
