The 275/50/17 M&H drag radial or the 28x10x17 Hoosier slick are going to be your best bets as I don't think there is a good drag tire that will fit decently on a 7.5" wide rim that is over 28" tall. A 28" tire and 4.10's are good for 122mph at 6000rpm*, 135mph at 6500rpm*. The 115 trap you estimated in the op would only be at 5700rpm*. (*speeds assuming directly coupled i.e. no converter slip)

Thanks Tim, that makes me think the goodyears would be pretty good. Just a hair wider for a tad more contact. Do you have limiting straps? It may help with the front tires slipping.

I don't plan to lock my converter which changes the game a little. I don't know how much slip there is at close to 6000 RPM, but I know there will be some. Figure 500 RPM on the low side... that outs me right at 6200 RPM at 115MPH. I don't have all that much cam in this, so that's getting awful close.

Doh, Sierra Denali = AWD, so nevermind the slick recommendation. In that case, when searching for a street radial on tire rack (or where ever else) look at Ultra/High Performance Summer tires with a low (2-300) treadwear rating. An all-season or wet weather tire is going to sacrifice some in the tread block design and compound for lateral traction in lieu of straight line traction. Looks like you are on the right track with the RS-A or the Bridgestone HP Sport.

Sounds like the good year will be my best bet then. It's gotta be a pretty soft rubber compound. I love that fact that its only 32# too... almost seems too good to be true.

Your slip around 6k should only be a couple hundred, maybe less.

I run the M&H 390/40R17's 29.5x12x17's
w/ 4.56 gearing & 10" wide rims
but 390's prob require a wider rim (10" minimum) than you have

So the M&H 325/45r17 might be a better choice
at 28 x 11.5 x 17 I know people that run these on 8-9" wide rims
or maybe the
M&H 275/50r17 at 28x 10 17
the 275 is a bit narrow for my liking
All the above will pull in on the sidewall width some on narrower than their as measured rim widths.

All the M&H DR's tend to be true to their advertised height
So at 28" tall
With 4.10 gears and ~6% TC slip at wot
115 mph 6050 rpm
120 mph 6300 rpm
Std trans or fully locked TC
115 mph 5700 rpm
120 mph 5950 rpm
