Default Quick tire size question... 315/45 555r

Can i squeeze a 315/45r18 onto my 18" x 8" cadillac escalade rims and drive it daily?

Do they make a 315/45?

I found a set on craigslist but I dont see where nitto sells this size...

I see the 305/45r18 suggested rim width is 10.0 - 12.0"

I have not seen a 315/45/18, however, Nitto has a NT05R in a 315/40/18 thats 28" tall. I'm currently running the NT05R in 305/45/18 on 9.5" rims (same size 555R previously) and I have to keep them aired down pretty low (~25psi) to keep from wearing out the center tread. Although I have seen guys put this size on a 8" rim, I would not suggest it as it would make the contact patch issue even worse. If you are looking for a drag radial, M&H has a new 275/45/18 out that is 28" tall and may work on a 8" wheel.

I wouldn't, Nitto's approved rim width for that size is 9.5"-11.5"

I should be good with a 275/45R18 (M&H DR) on the 18x8.5"? I'm currently running a 285/60R18 on these wheels now.

Looks like M&H wants that size on a 10" wheel, doesn't look like there's a lot of options for an 8.5" rim, have you thought about getting your rears widened or getting a second set for DRs?

I think what BigKID said earlier would happen on that setup - contact patch problems and having to run really low pressures.

I always try to stick to the manufactures sizing specs, it puts the tire exactly where they designed them to be and to get the best contact patch and sidewall flex.

For anyone interested, M&H tires run small. My 275/50/17s were puny, 27" tall on the vehicle under weight. Take this into account if running short gear ratios.
