Default pretty much a disaster first time to track...1st time

So...finally made it out tonight..had a great time that's for sure.

1st run I get I go around the water box area get ready to go and the guy knocks on my window tells me I have to put my window up and seatbelt on (massive on me). Anyways, I mash it off the line and it seems pretty far down the track I'm going sideways

60' = 2.937
1/8 = 10.56 @ 77.27
1/4 = 15.68 @ 95.75

So next time I try a burnout. I think I went 1/2 or 3/4 throttle right off the line and held that for a while then floored it. Results:

60' = 2.168
1/8 = 9.027 @ 79
1/4 = 14.066 @ 96.64

Last one I thought for sure I could get I could get 13s. I let some air out of the tires (first 2 runs @ 35psi), did a good burnout seemingly and floored it all the way off the line. Spin spin spin....truck went sideways again...let out...mashed it again and went sideways again ....I cannot floor my truck without it spinning unless I was a good ways down the track.

Result: 16.4 @ 93.35 mph

So...I think the 4.10s may actually have slowed me down because I simply cannot put the pedal down and go. So the tall 1st of the 4l80e may actually be a good thing in this situation. Oh, and I had no clue what I was doing. I'm pretty confident that if someone was driving who knew what they were doing, it would go 13s. I had several people come up and ask me what was done to it on that 14.0 run so atleast something went right. Big changes will be made before the next trip to the track late summer/fall and I hope to knock at least 1 second off by then.

I thought I had good tires? 285mm toyo proxes? Is it going to be impossible for me to go much faster on anything but slicks?

You need to learn to peddle it, find the limit of traction and push it there each time. and street tires wont hold to too much.
14 is a good time. what was your tire pressure?

I'll go ahead and see if I can get some slicks then. I have a feeling that may stress my bone stock tranny though. lol.

So I guess next time to the track I'll add cam, stall, 4l80e, and slicks.

And for the love of god....does everyone and their grandmother have a camaro/trans am/mustang!
