Default Pit-man update

Sorry guys, I have been out for the count. Decided to change the tranny fluid
on my last track day.....found lots of metal chunks in the pan. Yanked it out, sent my TC to Dave @ Yank for a refresh and my buddy Dave Smith is working on the planetary gears and 3-4 clutch pac. It was already a built tranny from "Rockon" so I am just replacing anything worn.

TC arrived today (it was fine, still looked new after 3 yrs racing), no word on the tranny yet. Parts were due in yesterday. Going crazy without my truck !!!

Going back out on the slicks ASAP and try some new launching methods.

Pitt

old vaccum 4L60.

Gonna stay with it for now. Too close to a ten second run to put the power robbing, heavier 80 in. If I was mid elevens I wouldn't worry about it.
Now if I can just get this thing to launch instead of having to roll into the throttle.

Have you been beating the **** outta that trans for awhile? Or was it completly unexpected to see the shavings?

It had three years of abuse on the track, one was a Nitrous year. First sign of trouble at all. Caught it just in time too !

i thought you were gonna post some nitrous times or something, good call on the 60, no need for that 80 if the tranny builder is good.

i've seen a couple threads lately where people have run faster with an 80e, and its only 22lbs heavier.

The tranny guy I use now, says most of the difference isnt in the mass, but more the pump and pump pressures.

Gonna stick with it. The GM High Performace mag has a new article this month on how to build a bullet proof L60

Yeah, I hear around 32 but it supposedly is robbing some hp also. I don't want to chance it at this point. I don't want to change anything except the launch.

Yeah, the tranny builder only has to replace the 2 worn parts. The 3-4 clutch pac only had minimal wear, planetary gears were 1/2 gone.
