Default Hitting the 1/4 mile tomorrow! Quick question...

First of, not my first time to the 1/4, but first time in this truck. Normally I run in 4WD at my local 1/8 mile, but I know it will be very slow on the big end if I run 4WD at the 1/4. So, being that im going to run it in 2WD I have a couple questions...

I have an open differential and will be running on street tires, will it even be worth it to do a burnout?

Secondly, being on street tires, will I benefit any from airing them down some? In 4WD I run them at 40psi to help with the rolling resistance. Should I try running them at like 30psi to try and help hook?

Im only going to do a handful of passes, so help me figure out what I should do to make the most out of my time.

id run 28-30 psi in tires. doing a small burnout to clean off tires will help. since they are regualr radials, heatig them up too much will turn them to butter. good luck and post up some videos and time slips.

Don't do a burnout. Just turn them over for about 2 seconds to clean them off.

That's what I was figuring about 28-30psi in the tires.

As for cleaning them off. Should I still skip the water box and just turn it over dry? Again, this is with an open diff. (Really need to get my truetrac, moser girdle cover and diff cap studs installed)

yes avoid the water, it will get in the groves and tread blocks of the tire even after a small burnout. when you stage at the light the water will puddle under your tire, and you will spin. so go around water, small burnout, just to clean off tires, have them 28-30psi. id be in 4x4 if you have a open diff. and give it hell!! and on another note, you need to get off your A$$ and get your trutrac in

Try one pass ins 2wd. Unless god is helping push your truck off the line every other pass should be made in 4wd. On my tahoe 2/4 made zero differance. I went to 4 making sure I wasn't spinning and I wasn't, but, it also didn't slow me down at all slips were nearly identical. I was running 16s for what it is worth.

Skip the water and clean tires. I always try to do a rolling burnout and roll past the lasers and get plenty of sticky stuff on my tires. Then reverse several ft before the lasers and do a mini practice launch to see if its gonna hold or not... Seemed to work wonders for me when I was na on street tires.....

street tires and open dif. i would say 20lbs in the tires, that one tire is trying to get all the power to the ground. heat em up good but not to hot though.

Well we got up to the track a little later then I had hoped. Tried running them at about 28psi for one pass. Eased into it and spun pretty good. Then when it shifted into 2nd it spun again and got a little sideways.

So after that little episode I said running it in 2WD and just left it in 4WD the rest of the day. Ran decently in 4WD.

Previous best in the 1/8th was 9.927 and 71.32mph.

Today I beat both previous bests on the same pass, but not by much. 1/8th was 9.922 @ 71.63mph which was good for a 1/4 pass of 15.374 @ 89.45mph.

Im pretty happy with what it ran. Was hoping for closer to 15.00 but can't complain since I almost broke 90mph. Track was at 550' above sea level, 65*, 30in/hg, and 50% humidity for a DA of 1,100ft.

I plan on going to my local 1/8th mile one more time this year now that I have my 30.5" tires on. Going to wait until after I get my trans work done and retuned for it by Justin. The truck runs real consistant so no need for me to run anymore as it sits now.

Looks like a ext cab? Pretty good time for a 5.3 and open diff.
