Default Help with street/drag tires

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to start my project on my 2003 RCSB chevy silverado. I'm putting in a 402 stroker LS engine into my truck, should make good power, hoping in the 500-600 hp range. My truck does get drove to work sometimes but never during the snow or rain. It is due for some tires so I'm looking for a good street tire that will hook up but I do want to go to the drag strip maybe a few times during the season to see what the truck will do so I'll need something that hooks up well but works well on the street. So I'm thinking 15 or 16 inch tires on the back and not sure for the front. I will also need a good set of rims. Could you guys help me out with this? Anyone have any pictures of trucks set up like this? Course I'll be upgrading the usually stuff, tranny and driveshaft and changing gear. Thanks guys for any help.

Jeff

Thanks, appreciate the info, I haven't looked up any nittos yet but I will. Do you know how wide you can go on the rear on a 03 silverado? Also, I can't find 16s on the nittos but no biggie. Also, I have 20 in wheels and tires now so I'll need some rims, any suggestions in that also?

You seem to have big power plans so no tire is going to do you well on the street and be worth a damn at the track.

No one I have talked to at the track who have nittos, or BFG drag radial TAs are at all happy with how they work at the track.I have talked to 8-10 guys at the local track I go to and you see guys all the time online talking that they just don't work.

If you only plan on the track occationaly and need a good tire for the road then you just need a good street tire.

Then if you really want to let it stretch it's legs at the track then get a track set of tires. Bias is you better option for the track. You will need a 16" to fit over the brakes(as far as I know) so keep that in mind.
