Default Help! 5.3/turbo/4wd-no traction

Now that the turbo is done , I can't get it to hook even in 4hi leaving on high boost. I don't think it's the tires at my horsepower level (275/55/20's), I think it's that the front tires are unloading and loosing traction...jerks steering wheel left to right violently. HELP! Suggestions welcome!

you probably need to limit the drop on the front axle. I know Parish had some trouble with loosing traction when that happened. As I recall, he chained the front to limit the drop.

What brand tires? What psi are launching at?

Pull the lift blocks out from the rear-end. It is cheap, (just need to buy new u bolts) and you will gain a ton of traction. BTW, Torque steer in a 4x4 is the funnest thing on earth!!!! Limiting the front-end would be the next step imo. but pulling the rear blocks should fix your traction problems.

They are Goodyear Eagle Gt's I think (I'm in another state today). I am leaving at 6-7lbs. The guy at the starting line said my left front tire saw air when I left on 7lbs. I think that's when it pulled right, then left tire touched down and pulled left and so on...had to get out of it.

Wilde, it seems like the back is hooking just the front that is doing a dance. It is funny as ****, just not productive and I am afraid of the shock to the drivetrain. Lift blocks? Would that make the truck sit differently? Thanks guys.

There are 2" lift blocks between the axle and the leafs in ther rear. The front-end is loosing traction because the rear-end has already lost tractions. At least that is my guess. it will lowwer the rear-end by two inches, so you will have to adjust the torsion bars to get the truck to seat level.

330.....5.324@65.19
1/8th...8.211@83.78
best mph@83.92 after getting out of it for a second due to front tire traction.

That's a pretty good 60' time for a 4x4 truck. What you need to do is lower the front T-bars down when your at the track so the tie rods are about level. What happens with these trucks at stock ride high is when you launch hard the front end lifts and bump steer makes the wheels tow in BAD, and that's when they loose traction. Lowering them with give it more static tow out for the launch and be closer to strait when the weight transfers and it lifts up. Make since?
