Haha...my 5.3 probably has the same if not a bit more hp to the ground. Time to start with a tune. I hear the 8.1 really wakes up.

I think the converter or trans might be starting to die... it was doing some strange stuff.

They also had a dyno there. 235 whp and 311wtq... those numbers seem strange if you try to figure out the precentage of drive train loss. i think the 8.1L had 320hp and 455lbtq.. so im loosing 85 hp and 144 lbtq threw that 4L80E...

Yea it slow.. the wifes freaking Datsun will kill it...

Yea and it only has 3:73 gears.

I changed the plugs saturday... from the looks of them it wasnt running the best.. I guess the hole $120.00 for plugs and wires was not a waste of money.. Ill get you a picture of the plugs... they look GOOOD..

I might run it again this thrusday.. heck its only $5.00...... and a lot of gas

I'm thinking your dyno might of been a bit low based upon if you dyno'd in 2nd instead of 3rd. Do you remember which gear you were in?

You can get the 8.1Ls to go fast.....bad part is, if i was in a half ton i would be going 1.5 seconds faster for the same money spent....LOL....stupid heavy truck.

If yours is anything like mine....you cant beat the ride though and I know it seems ironic, but my 2500HD rides better than most half tons i have been in....damn thing drives and cruises like a Caddy, maybe cause its so heavy?

Thats interesting. Buddies L92 based 408 / 4L80E swapped 4WD Silverado made 395rwhp /38x TQ with a little TR224 cam.

My heads and cam came off a buddies car. Through a unlocked TH400, 12bolt with 4.10's it made 43xrwhp. In my truck with the 4L80E locked, 12 bolt with 3.73's it made 428rwhp. We both had good headers, his was corked while mine was open and he was running a fast to my LS6/ported TB.


I think these 80's soak up more power than people think.
