Yea I think someone else should confirm which bed weighs more just to make sure, I would think that the Sportside weighs less than the Fleetside. I need to start a diet for my truck, I have alot to gain in the 1/4 mile.

I am pretty sure if you weigh it down, you'll see a major gain.

That's how I have it right now....of course with the tailgate on the streets. For my winter timeslips, I want to take the passenger seat out of there too to see how much lower it goes....it feels like 70 pounds there.
i just looked up my old thread when i broke the record.
my race weight was around 4100 with me in it and right under 1/2 tank (i weigh 185)
and yes, the stepside guys do have the advantage of less weight.
the pass. seat weighs 58

the crappy thing about the resevoir is that you fill it with water and so during WOT passes more weight would be shifting all around. seems like if anything went mildly awry, it would just make things worse with 400lbs of water sloshing to one side or the other.

Some friends went to a weighing scale here close to my house to see the diffrence between them: one fleetside and one stepside, both of them with no diet. I was surprised!!! The fleetside weighed 100 lbs exact less than the stepside. Even though the fleetside had almost full tank of gas and the stepside had 1/4 and a lil' more..... 4180 to 4280........How can that be????

that is really weird. maybe the curves in the fiberglass account for more surface area than the straight lone of the fleet side, the fiberglass could be more flimsy and require stiffer mounting brackets, if the drivers were in it yall could weigh different? sport side have bigger rims and heavy tires? man i dunno thats weird
