LOL. They all break.

You can put the best parts in them but that’s not what makes them live, it’s setting up the hydraulic circuits and clearances.

Ive seen guys spend $7,000 on a "built' 4L60E and expected it to live. Then after breaking it a few times end up eating crow and do a 4L80E swap.

The TBSS mani is the best for the lq4 if your priority is low end. It has the highest, low end out of about every manifold option you have (factory and non). If you want revs, ported 243s, peak power, 4200 stall, a higher revving cam, then just about every other manifold is going to give you more peak. If you get a manifold designed for peak, you can gain twice as much up top what you lose down low compared to the TBSS mani.

Not sure how much of this you have bought yet, but as for the Caltracs; I have mine, and they are great, but they are a parallel 4 link. If this is a strict drag truck/ weekender then you don't want the caltracs. There are other options out there, to get a parallel 4 link that will do the same thing. The difference is the caltracs keep the leaf springs, where a decicated 4 link removes them. If you still plan on keeping it a daily driver, and having hundreds of pounds of cargo in your bed, then you want the Caltracs. If you won't be hauling weight in the bed, then if you go with a dedicated 4 link, you can ditch the leaf springs, and save yourself is about either 40 pounds total or each.

I was always told that caltracs are a little stiffer ride for the street but you can build a streetable 4-link that boosts ride quality.

I wouldn't see how either of those are possible. Caltracs could only stiffen the ride if you really overdo the preload. They do tighten it up so when you hit something like a speed bump its definitely harder jarring. All its doing is keeping the axle from twisting and in the right spot front to back. A 4 link will get rid of the leaf springs and remove the weight by about 40 pounds (pretty sure that's each side), which will help handling and suspension in general. The leaf springs are keeping the truck up though, they aren't effecting the suspension. They got rid of my axle hop which let me handle better in the rain, and inclined curves.

I know for me its kind of inspiring to take the slop out of one place so you can be more focused about improving in other areas. I'm looking forward to doing the shock relocation kits and coilovers when there's a better time for me to do em.

Yeah I am the opposite I have the shock relocation and the coilovers lol I don't feel like I have a lot of axle hop but then again I do not really go hard on the pedal. I'm a mostly relaxed driver. Need to cut my c-notch cause my ride quality is pretty trash though

I searched, but didn't find much information other than a 3600 converter... would you be wiling to share your setup/mod list?

Sure. Started out as a ‘99 Z71. Lifted it 6” suspension, 3” body lift and geared it with 4.56’s. Swapped in a LQ4 with a TR224 cam and Patriot stage 2 243’s milled to 59cc. Built 60E with a 3400 converter. Long tube headers, big 4” intake tube, stock throttle body/intake, E-fans, underdrive pulley, nothing real crazy.

Went 13.3 on 37” tires when the converter was 3600. 13.0 on 31’s with it restalled to 3400. The truck feels like it hits a wall at 100mph. Lol
