Default Pillar Mount for MM3 / Smarty Touch

managed to find a brand new Edge CTS mount (38405) on that electronic auction place for $96 to my door (crazy how that's a $20-30 savings when just a couple years ago, these were $65 retail). ordered on Memorial Day & got it this evening.

install took about a half hour... including 15min of fumbling around in no hurry whatsoever. the hardest part was getting the mounting screw aligned & threaded, but once i did, it fit just fine.

the bottom edge doesn't quite tuck in all the way behind the dash & sticks up a tiny bit in the corner by the windshield... but it ain't bad enough to bother me. at least now i ain't gotta fold back 6" of my sunshade no more like i had to with the suction cup mount.

after a couple test fits, the CTS2 adapter was a bit too tight against the back of the MM3 (or Smarty Touch) to properly fit into the rubber grommet's retaining ridges, so i went with the CTS3 adapter & accepted it sticking out 1/2". from the driver's seat, you can't really tell much difference. i notched out a slot the width of the USB connector and didn't need to cut the grommet at all.

and for the more visually-inclined:

That looks good, I still have mine on the suction cup. I need to get a better mounting option like you did.

yeah, after two winters of finding it laying on the dash every time the temp dropped below 20°, i figured i'd bite the bullet.
i was hoping the flush-mount adapter would've worked because it looks more permanent (i.e., harder to just reach in & take), but you can't win them all.

Smarty Touch? Glad to see Marco is still kicking it. Always a cool dude to chat with.

mine's an MM3 (same hardware, slightly different firmware). RaceME Ultra is the third that also uses this module.
MM3 is the more open-source version, if you will, because it comes blank unless you specifically buy it through a tuning entity who's simply reselling it to you with his own programming written to it.

If it got below 20 here I'd move further south. I couldn't handle that for long, 95 with 95% humidity is no sweat though. Haha. I need one for my cts2 that I monitor with on the LML.

^^ same... but i ain't got no choice in the matter.
i will say 40-50% humidity does make a world of difference - feels 20-30° warmer when it gets that cold.
